The Geospatial »Other«
Video and installation, 30 min
Showing a timelapse of 30 min, the video installation shows the geo-spatial other on the periphery.

As it slowly fills with waste ashes in the middle it alludes to the slow adaption–what ecologists termed the »shifting baseline syndrome«–as the surrounding dwellings and its habitats acclimatise to the terraformed landscape, the geo-spatial other within their territory. Its presence goes to signify the entrenchement of the landbody (the landfill) within contemporary waste management and the inability to move beyond economic systems that produce surplus material destined for it.
