The Engineering of Away
Mixed media, A2-sized book, Edition: 2

Screenprinted with bespoke ink made from waste ashes on textile (akin to the material used in geomembrane structure)

The artist book »The Engineering of Away« shows a collection of ten technologies (patents) used in the creation and maintenance of the landfill.

Screenprinted with bespoke ink made from waste ashes, the residues of waste incineration technology, it questions the focus placed on patenting ever more technology designed to upkeep the landfill as a means of disposal. It further reflects on the entrenchment of the landfill within contemporary waste management as well as the inability to move beyond economic models that produce surplus waste.
